90% Government Funding Extended Beyond June 2018
Essex businesses are being given the opportunity to access up to £8,000 of funding to put towards improvement the management & leadership of their organisation, with the funding now extended past the end of the month.
NEN Member, the Colchester Business Enterprise Agency (Colbea) has teamed up with training provider The Lighthouse Group to help businesses gain access to the funding, available through The Apprenticeship Levy which was introduced by the Government in April 2017.
The qualifications, which lead to a Diploma from Institute of Leaderships and Management, would usually cost £5,000 to £9,000 but are available for just 10% of the costs thanks to the Levy, and are applicable for managers of all levels, from first line managers to strategic directors.
Ashleigh Seymour-Rutherford, chief executive of Colbea, says, “This is a fantastic opportunity for businesses to provide their staff with a professional pathway, leading to an ILM diploma, and develop the leaderships skills and experience within their business, at a cost which is less restrictive and much easier to justify on an SME budget.”
James Salter is Director of Lighthouse Training, he says, “This funding is ring fenced for companies which do not pay into the apprenticeship levy and can be used to fund 90% of the cost of new management apprenticeships. Many experienced managers are put off by the term ‘apprenticeships’. In reality, these development programmes are accredited Leadership and Management Diplomas. They just happen to be funded by the adult education budget. These qualifications are appropriate for all levels within small and medium sized businesses from first line managers to managing directors and are designed to equip people with the skills necessary to grow your business.”
To help SME leaders and decision makers learn more about the training opportunities available to them, Colbea is offering a free ‘Upscaling Your Business’ seminar, alongside Lighthouse Training, on 15th June from 10am to 11am at Colbea’s Central Colchester Business Centre, 1 George Williams Way, CO1 2JS.
