National Enterprise Network welcomes Chancellor’s support for high street enterprise

National Enterprise Network, representing many of the country’s enterprise agencies, has welcomed the confirmation from the Chancellor that funding for small businesses, which has previously been available through European Funding, will continue to be made available through the British Business Bank on the exit of the UK from the EU. Furthermore, the extension of the Start Up Loan funding to 2021 will mean that loans to start up businesses will continue to be made available through some enterprise agencies.

Commenting on the announcements, Graham Marley, Chairman of the National Enterprise Network said: “We had made the continuance of the Start up Loan Programme, and reassurance of the continuance of the funding hitherto available through the European Funding Programmes the top two issues on our wish list to the Chancellor, and we are pleased that he has responded in the Autumn Statement. Encouraging new small businesses in our high streets is critical to the health of local economies, and we and the Enterprise Agencies look forward to continuing to play our part in the coming years with the support announced this week.
